AUTHOR’S QUESTIONNAIRE

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS AN ARTIST?

I don’t tend to call myself an artist – that word seems too broad to me. I feel more like a shaper or designer, for whom meaningful form and practical value are important.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHICH MEDIUM OR MATERIAL TO USE FOR A PROJECT?

I usually don’t choose them consciously – they come to me on their own, along some path. It’s as if the material or medium finds me, not the other way around.

IS THERE A PRINCIPLE OR PHILOSOPHY THAT GUIDES YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?

The world is more than enough. If you’re going to create something, only something that will last – in terms of material, thought and use.

WHAT ROLE DOES MUSIC, PHOTOGRAPHY, OR OTHER ARTS PLAY IN YOUR WORK?

Music is an important source of inspiration – it creates a good feeling and supports your work ethic.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE PEOPLE FEEL OR NOTICE WHEN THEY ENCOUNTER YOUR WORK?

I want it to be perceived that the things I create are well thought out and good to use. I am very practical by nature and this is reflected in my work.

WHO OR WHAT HAS INFLUENCED YOUR AESTHETIC THE MOST?

My biggest influence has been my family – my mother and especially my father, who has been making things himself all his life. That is where my respect for DIY and thoughtful graphic design comes from.
